Rape is a very sensitive subject that has been prevalent in American for an extended amount of time. More specifically since slavery. This is what makes this subject even more important to me. Because of my African
heritage (I am African American) this without a doubt effected my ancestors; this is also the one of the points in time were such a horrendous crime could not be documented because of the race of the victim. As a consequence this it is still an ongoing crime that doesn't always get documented and results in the rapist apprehend. I feel that the only way to lower the rates of rape is for the police to follow completely through on each rape case. Considering that a rapist doesnt not rape just onces and stops. No one deserves to not be served their piece of justice therefore to actually empower the phrase "justice for all" there actually has to be justice FOR ALL. My counterparts might say "the police do not have time to for through a rape case for each individual that is raped". My rebuttal to that would be I know that police have a heavy work load with all the crime that continuously happens in their communities. However not every police has to work on these particularly cases. They could have a set team just like they have for homicides, suicides, arson, and forensics. This is just one way to lower the rate in my opinion there could be various ways that this crime rate could be lowered.

My Issue
My issue is rape. Im focusing on rape because for one it mostly effects women. Not just one type of woman but no race of women is excluded from this horrendous crime that sometimes goes undocumented. This issue needs to be addressed more because there are so many girls, teenage girls & women being raped, and some of those who are raped feel to scared to tell anyone. This has been going on for centuries. African slaves were been raped by their masters & they had no choice but to let him rape her because if she refused & fought he could beat her during the rape, kill her or sell her to a different plantation . Yet this was centuries ago now women do not have to be scared to go to the a family memeber, or the authorities all they can do is help you. With all your mental, emotional or physical scars.
Rape In The United States.
Rape, it has infected our country since it was first settled. And is still a very prevalent crime that infects our country to this day. I wont say that slavery is where it started because that would be an incorrect statement; however i will state that slavery is where it is found the most. And the slave women couldnt say no to thier master, they had to just endure and because they couldnt resist, they could report the crime this left them feeling scared. This crime effects the victim in several ways: emotionally, mentally and physically. Some mental effects of the aftermath of rape is the victim might have reoccurring nightmares about rape, flashbacks of the rape and the inability to stop remembering the rape. These are only a few of the mental
effects of rape. To continue, some of the emotionally effects of rape is social withdraw meaning that they try to not experiencing any feelings whatsoever. The rape victim can also become depressed but these are just some negative effects. Some victim avodate or take it as a learning event and move on. The physical effects is pregnancy.
The Rape Statistics of The World.
As you can see in the picture above America has a very high rape rate. It rages anyway from 64,000-100,000. That's an enormous amount of people. This is not just counting females these statistics are including males as well. Something has to be done about this. It can not continue at this rage. This is a very serious offense that can severely scar an individual. I believe in an attempt to stop this rage of rape is to arrest and convict the rapist. Rapist can not rape if they are in jail, they can not scar people and scare a community. As a call of action the authorities need to see that this crime is very serious and no one should be on the streets with this type of behavior.
